You may have heard of the latest and greatest new thing, the” MGID” – or “General Ledger Identification Database,” – but what is it? Well, if you are like many people, you will be more than a little bit confused by this new addition to the real estate world, and you will want to know what the fuss is all about. You see, just like the other systems available, the MGID allows you to store and share almost every record that you have in your files, which means that anyone who has the proper authorization can look up any number on your list and find out all of the pertinent information that they need to know.
How Does the MGID Work?
Now the big question is, how will you know that the person who requested this information has the right to see it? Will they have to pay for a membership to access the files, or do you simply allow everyone to come on down and look at the files whenever they want? These are very important questions that you must ask yourself when you are considering joining the club, as not everyone will have legitimate needs for the information that you hold on file. After all, a legitimate reason could be that someone just wants to check up on you; after all, if they had to get your permission to look up your file, then there is no reason that they shouldn’t be able to have access to it.
One of the most interesting things about the new system is the way that it tracks your property and lists the information remotely. This means that if you were to move around, or die, or anything else that would affect the security of your property, the company would still be able to find out about it and keep it on file. Now, granted, you may not wish to have anyone looking at the file, or you might want to keep it under lock and key at all times. But having this technology available to you gives you the ability to quickly check up on the status of your property whenever you want. If you are a landlord, or a tenant, or if you are a friend or family member who is looking into buying a home or renting out a property, the MGID will make the process much simpler for all of you.
